Random play for selected items. While you’re in the “Library” tab, select a few tracks (or albums) and choose “Random Play” from the menu. The application will play tracks randomly from the list of the selected items.

Another way to play tracks randomly from an album (or an artist) is to use a long-click and choose “Random Play”.

If you think that the search toolbar is taking too much space, you will be able to hide it by choosing “Hide Search” from the menu while you’re in the “Library” tab.

Other visual improvements

Enjoy!

Hello Android Users!
I hope you’ve all upgraded the latest version (3.00) by now. Besides performance and stability improvements we’ve done some work on the player controls.

First of all, the history button, that takes care of the cases when you need to play again a song you have recently played. By clicking on that button you will get a list of the last 10 played songs. However choosing a song from that list will not interrupt the current order of songs. In other words if you’re in the middle of playing a playlist and want to re-play some song you listened to 20 minutes ago (which might be in a different playlist), simply choose it and after the song is completed the player will continue playing whatever is left in the current playlist.

Another small, but cool feature is re-playing the song currently being played. Simply tap on the time elapsed and the song will get restarted.

Enjoy the new version and remember - there’s more to come.

Here comes the new uploader.
Good news for those you have large libraries of files. There’s no more browsing through hundreds of folders. Simply choose the root folder and all your mp3/ogg/m4a files will be selected automatically. Don’t worry about uploading duplicates. The system is smart enough to detect those.

The new uploader is a java applet. That means you won’t have to download and install anything.

Enjoy and let us know if you spot any problems.

Show/Concert Schedule In Your Area

Keep up to date on all events scheduled in your area based on the artists in your library. There’s plenty of sources out there (billboard charts, reviews etc). When it comes to indie (or non-mainstream) stuff, finding a decent album is quite a challenge. Of course there’re lots of blogs that write about indie music, but your choices are limited.

Moozone offers an alternative way to discover non-mainstream artists. It works kind of similar to Pandora Radio, but its main focus is on indie. Follow the link below, type in your favorite artist and you will get a list of tracks, that might be similar in its sounding to the music of that artist. You will be able to play 30 second samples and see if you like it or not.

Moozone Indie Music Discovery Tool

First of all, once you upload music to Moozone, a few things happen:

We read ID3 tags, pull out track genres. These genres get associated with the uploaded tracks.

We try to match your tracks against our catalog (we have over 7 million tracks with proper genres and tags).

So if your track has the proper track, album and artist titles, there’s a very good change it will have correct genres (or even sub-genres) associated with it. Worst case scenario, you can always enter genres (tags) manually on our web site.

So how can you use that information on both the web site and our Android App?

Well, type the following in your search field tags:rock. You will get a list of all tracks (or albums, depending on your current view) that have rock tag associated with them. Now hit random play (or simply a play button) and you will be able to play all these tracks.

Want to hear all metal and classical tracks at the same time?

Try searching for tags: classical, metal.

Let us know what you think and how it works out for you.

New version of Moozone & Moozone Pro

We’ve spent a lot of time trying to improve our streaming engine. You will certainly see the difference once you update. The new version is smart enough to reconnect in case of a network failure. Download to Save Box has also been improved and will make its best trying to download your files in the areas of bad reception. Give it a try.

Moozone Android App Update

Improved streaming engine

Now you can “unheart” hearted tracks (by clicking on the heart button in the player again)

Random play button for playlists (instead of a shuffle)

We receive a lot of feedback from you and we try to do our best to implement requested features as soon as possible. For those who is using our Android Moozone Pro application, from now on you will be able to remove your tracks and albums straight from your phones. There’s no need to go to our web site for that.

Mp3 might be the most popular format at the moment, but we’re well aware that there’re many users using other formats, like OGG and M4A. Just about a month ago we announced support for OGG format. Now it’s turn for M4A.

Who doesn’t?
Well, I...

If You Prefer High Quality Music

Who doesn’t?

Well, I think most of the people actually don’t. Otherwise there wouldn’t be FM radio, Pandora, Last.fm. We’re an iPod generation, that consumes music with cheap headphones or speakers.

But there’re still many of those who DO care. Who want to hear a song the way it was meant by artists and sound engineers. Those for whom mp3/128kbps won’t cut it.

What should these people do? What is the best way to store and enjoy their high quality music collection?

First of all, what would be the best choice of audio format? Is it mp3/320kbps? Well, I must say mp3 at 320 gives you a pretty decent quality. You can find numerous tests on the Internet that show that it requires a very good stereo system and a pair of ears to actually tell the difference between a CD and an mp3 file encoded with 320kpbs. But it’s possible and I’m sure there’re plenty of those who tried that.

Can I get something better than an mp3/320 and still keep the file size small? The answer is yes. You can always turn to an OGG Vorbis, which gives you up to 500kpbs. I believe at this rate even the most demanding ear can be satisfied.

The next question is can you stream OGG Vorbis? And the answer is again yes. Most of digital locker servers out there will convert OGG files into an mp3 file for streaming. However Moozone.com supports true streaming of OGG Vorbis files, where the actual OGG file will get streamed to your computer or an Android app.

I, myself, have ripped all my old CDs to OGG/500 and uploaded them to Moozone.com. 3G networks are fast enough to handle 500kbps without any problems.

In the version of our successful Android App we have tried to decrease gaps between songs. And I believe you will be happy to learn that with a good 3G connection you get no more than 2-3 seconds.

Enjoy our service and give us more feedback.

Now we support: OGG

There have been a number of enhancements for our Android App lately. Here is the list:

Player: Better connection error management. If all of a sudden connection gets dropped in the middle of buffering a song, you will be presented with 3 options: retry, skip, or stop. In some cases users prefer to skip to the next song, especially if most of it has already been played.

Feature: Playlist random shuffle. Someone might be willing to shuffle the tracks in a playlist. Not it is possible.

Feature: Random play for tracks in Save Box. Works similarly to the same feature in the Library tab.

UI: Improved responsiveness of the play button.

Other minor fixes

Some of you might not be willing to commit to buy Moozone Storage, even though it is a cheap, attractive business model. Well, we’re happy to inform that from now on you will be able to rent storage and pay a monthly rental fee. It’s very easy to setup and cancel if you don’t want the storage anymore.

You can buy or rent any amount of storage (from 1GB to 100GB), it’s up to you. Apparently the more you buy or rent the cheaper it gets per gigabyte. Click on the link to check out the prices.

Moozone Pro 1.35 is out

Now you can re-order tracks in our playlist on your phone. There’s no need to go to the web site for that. Our goal, especially with Pro version, is to make sure the need to use the web site is very rare.

Watch Moozone App for Android demo
